Idiopathic Trigeminal Neuralgia
Overview
Idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia (TN)âsometimes called classic trigeminal neuralgiaâis a chronic pain disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve (cranial nerve V), which carries sensation from the face to the brain. The condition is termed âidiopathicâ when no underlying disease (such as tumor, multiple sclerosis, or vascular malformation) can be identified.
