What is Nail psoriasis?
Nail psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the fingernails and/or toenails. It is an extraâcutaneous manifestation of psoriasis, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy skin cells, causing rapid skin cell turnover. When the nail matrix (the part that produces the nail plate) or the nail bed (underneath the nail) is involved, the nail can become pitted, thickened, discoloured, or separate from the nail bed (onycholysis). Common Causes
