What is Zygodactyly toe deformity discomfort?
Zygodactyly is a rare congenital foot abnormality in which two toes (usually the second and third) are fused or closely aligned sideâbyâside, resembling the âtwoâtoedâ grip seen in some birds. When the affected toes become painful, swollen, or difficult to move, the condition is referred to as zygodactyly toe deformity discomfort. The discomfort may range from a dull ache after prolonged standing to sharp, burning pain during walking or when shoes rub against the abnormal contour.
The condition can be present at birth, but many people do not notice it until later childhood or adulthood when footwear, activity level, or secondary foot problems place stress on the deformed toes.
Common Causes
