What is Precocious Menstruation?
Precocious menstruation, also called early menarche, refers to the onset of a first menstrual period (menarche) before the age ofâŻ8âŻyears. In most girls, menarche occurs between agesâŻ12 andâŻ13âŻyears; when it appears significantly earlier, it may signal an underlying hormonal or medical problem that warrants evaluation.
The condition is not merely âearly puberty.â While many girls who experience early breast development or pubic hair may also have early menstrual bleeding, the key diagnostic point for precocious menstruation is the actual onset of menstrual flow before ageâŻ8.

Treatment Options
