What is Tempest Nausea?
Tempest nausea is a term used to describe a sudden, intense feeling of queasiness or the urge to vomit that is triggered or worsened by rapid changes in atmospheric pressure, strong winds, thunderstorms, or other âstormârelatedâ environmental factors. While the phenomenon is not listed as a separate disease in major medical classifications, it is recognized by clinicians as a form of environmentâinduced nausea that can occur in otherwise healthy individuals, in people with vestibular disorders, or in those with migraine or anxietyârelated conditions.
