What is Ventricular Stenosis?
Ventricular stenosis refers to a narrowing (stenosis) of one of the heartâs ventricles or of the valve that controls blood flow out of a ventricle. In clinical practice the term is most often used for:
- Leftâventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction â a narrowing where blood leaves the left ventricle to enter the aorta.
- Rightâventricular outflow tract (RVOT) obstruction â a narrowing where blood leaves the right ventricle to enter the pulmonary artery.
- Subvalvular (subaortic or subpulmonary) obstruction â a muscular or fibrous ridge that narrows the path before the valve.
